Description

Ding is a mobile application designed to transform how people connect by focusing on real-world, real-time interactions rather than traditional online matching.

Unlike typical dating apps, Ding enables users to:

  • Check in to a physical location (bar, café, event)

  • Discover other users in the same place

  • Send a “Ding” to initiate a conversation

  • Engage in a time-limited chat (15 minutes) to encourage real-life interaction

The platform emphasizes spontaneity and authenticity, helping users turn real-life moments into conversations and connections.

By combining location data, real-time presence, and behavioral constraints, the app creates a new interaction model focused on offline-first social experiences.

The project required building a real-time social platform that balances spontaneity, safety, and user engagement.

  • Designing a real-time location-based interaction system
  • Ensuring accurate and secure user check-ins
  • Creating time-bound communication flows (15-min chat logic)
  • Encouraging offline interaction while maintaining digital usability
  • Preventing misuse and ensuring user safety
